By train: The nearest major railway station to Himachal Pradesh is Chandigarh, which is well-connected to major cities in India. However, there are only a few trains that run directly to Himachal Pradesh, so the best option would be to take a train to Chandigarh and then hire a taxi or take a bus to reach your destination.

By air: The state has two major airports: Bhuntar and Gaggal. Both airports have daily flights from major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, and Chandigarh.

It’s also worth noting that Himachal Pradesh has many trekking and hiking routes, which can be a great way to explore the state’s natural beauty as it is home to many beautiful and popular tourist destinations, here are a few popular places to consider visiting:

1. Shimla: Known as the “Queen of Hills,” it is a popular hill station and the former summer capital of British India. It offers a mix of colonial architecture, temples, and natural beauty. The Mall is the main shopping and dining area of Shimla and is known for its colonial-era architecture and lively atmosphere. Kufri is a small hill station, located about 16 km from Shimla, known for its beautiful surroundings, trekking, and skiing.

2. Manali: Manali is a popular hill station and adventure sports destination, known for its scenic beauty, temples, and the nearby Rohtang Pass which offers skiing, paragliding, and other activities. The old part of Manali is known for its traditional wooden houses, temples, and narrow lanes, which offer a glimpse into the traditional lifestyle of the area, and the ancient temple is dedicated to Hadimba Devi, the wife of Bhima from the Indian epic Mahabharata. The temple is known for its unique wooden architecture and beautiful carvings. One must visit Rohtang Pass for adventure sports like skiing, snowboarding, and paragliding. The pass is only open during the summer months and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

6. Kullu-Manali: The valley of Kullu-Manali is famous for its temples and adventure sports like paragliding, rafting, skiing, and trekking.

7. Spiti Valley: Spiti Valley is a remote and less-explored destination, known for its beautiful landscapes, monasteries, and the Spiti River.
