We all have known how money works and how we need to manage it but all this is in an unorganized way and with a small amount but with the increase of a person’s income and expenses even more against them, it is very much important to focus on individual finance depending upon the need and requirements.

Personal Finance is not only about what we have and how we can satisfy our needs from that but it is a lot wider concept and the focus should be on every aspect of an individual’s life which will be affected due to turnaround in the financial planning that one makes.

Financial Planning is a major term that we use when we talk about personal finance and proper planning needs proper discipline along with the right guidance to monitor the key areas of an individual life.

Aspects to be focused on…

Goal Planning – Process of setting and defining specific, measurable, and achievable objectives that a person wants to achieve over a certain period. It involves identifying what a person wants to achieve, why they want to achieve it, and how they plan to achieve it. By setting goals, an individual can focus their efforts and make a plan to achieve something important to them. It also helps to measure progress, stay motivated and make necessary adjustments along the way.

Budgeting – Make a list of your income and expenses to get a clear picture of your financial situation. This will help you identify areas where you can cut back on spending and make sure you have enough money to cover your bills and save for the future. A budget gives you a clear picture of your financial situation and allows you to make conscious spending decisions, rather than relying on impulse buys or credit card debt. It also can help you avoid overspending and living beyond your means, which can lead to financial troubles down the road.

Investing – It’s important to diversify your investments and consider your risk tolerance, time horizon, and financial goals when making investment decisions because there are many instruments available in the open market such as stocks, bonds, real estate, mutual funds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The earlier you start investing, the more time your money has to grow. The power of compound interest means that your money will grow faster the longer it is invested not to forget before investment it is a wise decision to think and know about its risk and potential and determine if it is aligned with your needs or not.

Debt Management – High-interest debt, such as credit card debt, can be a significant financial burden. Prioritize paying off this type of debt as soon as possible to save on interest charges. Be aware of the taxes on your income and investments and try to minimize your tax liability as much as possible. One can take the help of the “Snowball avalanche method”, which is a debt repayment strategy that involves paying off debts with the smallest balances first while paying the minimum payments on the larger debts. The idea behind this method is that paying off the smallest debts first provides a sense of accomplishment and motivation to continue paying down debt. Once the smallest debt is paid off, the individual can then apply the money that was being used to pay off that debt to the next smallest debt and so on.

Risk Management – Risk management is important in personal finance because it helps individuals and households to mitigate or avoid potential financial losses. Make sure you have adequate insurance coverage for things like health, home, and auto to protect yourself and your assets in case of unexpected events, not only this but it can help individuals maintain financial stability by identifying and managing potential financial risks, such as job loss or unexpected medical expenses.

Monitoring – Personal finance is a continuous process, review your budget and your progress towards your goals regularly and make adjustments as needed. Reviewing your portfolio, debt and budget will always help to maintain good financial health and security and give you a good sleep.
